Our Story

Built by a mom who's been where you are.

Hi, I'm Amy

I started Autism Compass because I couldn't find what my family needed.

When my son Zion was around 13 months old, everything changed. He’d said his first words at 11 months, full of life and presence. Then, almost overnight, the words stopped. He went quiet. He stopped answering to his name. When I looked at every early signs list I could find online, he checked almost every box.
We were living in East Africa at the time. Within months of a diagnostic speech-language pathologist telling us she believed Zion was autistic, we packed up our lives and came home to Canada.
I threw myself into finding answers. Therapies, supplements, funding, tax credits, health insurance, natural approaches. And the more I found, the more I realized how much I still didn’t know.

Everyone just needs help. And they deserve information that’s personal, unbiased, and made for them. Amy Tandiko Founder, Autism Compass

Our Mission

Autism Compass exists to give families the clarity they deserve at every stage of the autism journey. We bring together honest information, practical tools, and real conversations so parents can make confident decisions for their children.

Our Mission

Every family, on their own path, informed, supported, and sure of their next step.

Why This Matters

We were overwhelmed. We made a plan. Now we're sharing everything we learned.

In Facebook groups and forums, I kept seeing the same thing over and over. Moms and dads in the same boat we were in, completely lost, desperate for guidance that felt human. Most information available is either clinical, biased, or buried. It’s not personal. And as parents, we need more than information. We need connection and support that actually reflects our lived experience.
We need to know how to advocate for our kids in a school system that’s under enormous strain. We need to know where to turn when healthcare waitlists stretch on for months or years. We need someone to help us cut through the noise.
That’s why I built Autism Compass.

Our Values

Clarity

The autism world is full of jargon, conflicting advice, and overwhelm. We cut through it honestly, carefully, and without an agenda.

Compassion

We know what it feels like to sit in a waiting room not knowing what comes next. Everything we create is built with that weight in mind.

Curiosity

We don't think there's only one path. We ask questions, explore options, and make room for approaches that don't always make it into the mainstream conversation.

Community

No family should have to research their way through this in isolation. We build bridges between families, between resources, and between the questions and the answers.

Where we are now

Today, Zion is three years old, happy, and thriving.

He’s regained so much of his speech. He makes eye contact. He loves snuggles, plays with all kinds of toys, recently learned to ride a scooter, and loves to help with simple household chores. Some parts of life are still a daily challenge, and I know more bumps in the road will come.

But I also know that with the right information, the right support, and a community of people who genuinely understand, this journey becomes something you can walk with confidence. That’s what Autism Compass is here to help you do.

We don’t tell you what to do. We help you understand your options, trust your instincts, and move forward with confidence.

Just like you, I’m still learning. And I’m ready to walk this journey hand in hand.
